Fish for steelhead, trout, and salmon in Lake Superior as well as walleye,
northern pike and bass in nearby lakes. Charter fishing on Lake Superior for
salmon and trout, or inland fishing for walleye, lake trout, pike and
bass is offered by many local guides.
Canoeing and Kayaking
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area offers miles of the best canoe wilderness in the
world or enjoy kayaking on Lake Superior. |
Hiking and Biking
The Superior Hiking Trail is one of the Midwest's finest, spanning 200 miles
from Two Harbors to Hovland. We participate in the Lodge to Lodge hiking
program. Superior National Forest offers 275 miles of
mountain bike trails. Both of these are located within a few miles of Thomsonite
Beach.
Golf
Play the championship 27-hole Superior National Golf
Course right here in Lutsen or the 9 hole course at Gunflint Hills 10 miles from us in
Grand Marais.

Sightseeing
Visit nearby Grand Marais with its harbor and marina, or take in local playhouse
events, art galleries, shopping, and museums. Enjoy the Cascade and Temperance
Rivers, Gooseberry Falls, Grand Portage, Split Rock Lighthouse, Tettegouche, and

Downhill Skiing/Snowboarding
Lutsen Mountains Ski Area is located 13 miles south of Thomsonite Beach.
Carve your turns on a wide variety of terrain, while taking in the
spectacular view of Lake Superior. The four mountains offer a different
challenge for all abilities of skiers or boarders. Check our

A vast 196KM network of ski trails spans public and private lands, two state
parks and the extensive U.S. Forest Service trails. We are located within a few miles of
